Our History

In the early 1930's, the North Carolina State Troopers built the Lodge as an escape from the city along with being a meeting space for get togethers. Stories have been told of donkeys being used to excavate the property along with troopers, when needing a getaway, would call up to reserve a room for a dollar or two. When looking at old pictures of troopers enjoying the lodge, some of which are hung in the bar area, it seems the main agenda was just the camaraderie that could be built when coming to the lake together. While certain things have changed nearly 100 years later as the Lodge is now open to the public, one thing has not: the desire to provide an escape to those who need to get back to nature with the ones that they love.
